All Goff/Gough/Goffe males are invited to join to determine the GOFF haplotype and discover how the various Goff families interconnect.
In 2003, Phillip Goff and Roy Lockhart wrote The Four Goff Brothers of Western Virginia, a history of these four men and their descendants. The authors scoured archives from MA to FL, locating 1,400 records about the four brothers, who lived in present-day WV and KY. These documents corrected information about their wives and children, but the parents and ancestry of the four Goff brothers remained elusive, perhaps until now.
Many Goff families do not descend from the four Goff brothers, such as three families that lived close to the Goff brothers in what is now Loudoun Co., VA (Adam Goff) and in northeastern WV (Job Goff and Joshua Gough/Goff). This DNA Study will show if these or other Goff families share a common ancestor with the four Goff brothers. This study will also help those with family traditions of descent from the four Goff brothers, but for which no historical proof exists. |
